How to exercise

Nei Gong consists of relatively simple and efficient exercises (at least the ones shown on the first 2 CDs), but there are a few general aspects that should be mentioned.

1) Duration: Exercise regularly - 15-30 minutes per day are advisable. Only through regular training you will achieve the desired effects. Morning exercise in the sun after getting up is ideal. Also another training in the evening sun. When you have achieved ‘round’ movements, and feel the energy flowing more quickly, you may drop the daily exercise to 5-10 minutes. That’s litte effort for great effects !

2) Your pulse should not exceed 100-110 beats per minute. By the time you will learn to control your pulse and with serious training also your blood pressure. Just give your doc a surprise the next time by asking: ‘Which blood pressure/pulse would you like to measure ?’

3) Avoid sharp pain, that comes quickly. Immediately stop at this point - there’s a chance that you do something wrong.

4) Observe your improvements. It is important that you develop better body consciousness. Be happy with your success ! Remember the first day you started it and compare ...

5) Your training targets should be kept in line with your physical abilities. Slowly go to your limits, but don’t overdo.

6) Expectations should be kept low. Athens wasn’t built in one day. But remember - the force is within you. Detect it, bring it to the surface, develop and enjoy it. Believe in what you do !

7) Caution: In case you are developing health problems like fever, fatigues, lasting aches during or after exercising, sleeplessness, swollen body parts, stop exercising and visit a doctor. Also check with your Nei Gong trainer, whether you did the exercises correctly.

In the chapters ‘Stretching’, ‘Moving Exercises’ and ‘Static Exercises’ you will find the principles for the individual types of exercises.
